Hand Therapy

At Port Melbourne Physiotherapy and Pilates, we have two experienced Hand Therapists available to treat a wide range of hand and upper limb conditions.

We are fortunate to have two exceptional hand therapists working at PMPP.

Vanessa Cheung is a highly-qualified Hand Physiotherapist and has been working in this field for 10 years. Prior to joining PMPP, Vanessa worked as a Senior Hand Physiotherapist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. In this setting, she become competent in assessing and treating a range of traumatic upper limb injuries. 

Kate Wharton graduated from La Trobe University in 2012, with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and has specialised skills in the field of Hand Therapy. She is passionate about treating hand, wrist and upper limb conditions, particularly traumatic and sports injuries. 

Both Vanessa and Kate can create thermoplastic splints in the clinic to help manage a range of hand and upper limb conditions. 

They can assess, treat and create management plans for the following conditions:

  1. Finger fractures and dislocations
  2. Sports injuries
  3. Mallet finger
  4. Trigger finger
  5. Wrist pain
  6. De Quervains tenosynovitis
  7. Tennis elbow
  8. Osteoarthritis
  9. Carpal tunnel syndrome
  10. Post-operative conditions e.g. tendon repairs, ORIFs, Dupytrens
  11. Scar management
